How many of you track moms are taking your kids to both USATF and AAU JOs? It seems like a lot of the top kids do it. I took my daughter to Michigan for USATF Youth Outdoor Nationals, which seemed to be a bigger meet than last year with multiple national youth records broken. Some track parents there said that the Michigan meet would be their national meet this year. We're going to NC for USATF JOs with expensive tickets. Iowa is not cheap to get to either -- but I'm on the fence.

My daughter is a first year bantam. It will be just Iowa for us this year, we had decided that regardless if she qualified for both or not. If she qualifies for both next year, and we can afford it, we may go to both as she will be a top bantam and so it will probably be more worth it.

AAU is really nice for the kids at the bottom of the age group, especially for the younger age divisions. Good luck to Brooke. What will she compete in? I thought we would do both this year because my daughter is an older midget, but we decided not to it do. Maybe we'll do both next year.

Yes I like that she will be able to compete against just girls her age and not a year older. She will compete in the 800M, 1500M and long jump. What events for your daughter? I see she is a great hurdler. What JOs are you going to?

My daughter Lauren will do the pentathlon and high jump at the USATF JOs. She had the fastest time in hurdles in our region, but stumbled and touched the hurdle with her hands and got DQed. So no hurdles this time. Good luck to Brooke!

Oh No that is such a bummer that she got DQed in the hurdles. You just never know what will happen in track. Good luck to her in the pentathon and the high jump.
